It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas.

The nights are drawing in.*

* Yes I know, technically that's incorrect and it's actually the days that are getting shorter at the moment.

ermm...no its not...it's just getting dark earlier......it still gets just as dark, but takes less time...hope this helps..
Actually, it depends on how far north/south you are. Go near enough to the poles and it doesn't even get dark/light at all in June! When I was in Scotland a few summers ago, it certainly didn't get fully dark.

As for me telling how it is summer ... It is Yorkshire, the time is 23:27, and it is still 23.0 degrees C outside!

Only it isn't ... The forecasts say that it should be only a chilly 10 degrees tonight and it certainly feels like that. My digital thermometer's external reading seems to have gone on the blink. The internal one seems to be telling the truth.

Indeed, the Simmer Din means the most you get is a few hours of twilight. I have fond memories of playing out with my mate Dougall until 11 at night and still being able to clearly see.

The flip side of that was the Winter. The sun wouldn't emerge until 10am and would nip out for a fag at 1500hrs.
