I don't work for them, I've only been to some of their auctions as a potential buyer.

I don't know if this is of any interest to you (or any other forum member), but . . . . . . .

A television company is looking for people with a dozen or so, quality items in their house that they might like to sell. The show sees a team of three professional antique dealers visit your home and attempt to unearth treasures such as: antique jewellery & silver, furniture, vintage children's toys; high-calibre artwork and pieces of decorative art and unusual collections.

The dealers make an on-the-spot cash offer for every item they want to buy. You then must decide whether to sell your items to the dealers for the cash offers made, or to hang on to your treasures. No commision is paid on sales.

If you or anyone else is interested, pm me and I will give you the telephone number of the company arranging the program.

This is by the way, a genuine opportunity for your own five minutes of fame.

Hartley's........hmm maybe.

I would contact Bonham's or Sotherby's or someone of that ilk.

As I said, don't work for them. Only been to some of their auctions. The only other one I can think of, locally, I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Do check fees carefully if you go the auction route. I couldn't believe the actual payment after they'd sold off my Dad's stuff. His wasn't the kind of thing you're describing, but I'd still suggest a good luck at the fine print before you commit to an auction house.

That is the problem with auction houses. Holding stuff back, selling to mates, undervaluing and so on. If you know of a reliable place it can save a lot of worry and money.

As I said I've only been to some of their auctions. But the more places he has recommended the greater his choice when he comes to sell.
