Hello all,

Decided to get my arse of the sofa and onto two wheels, bought a trek hybrid and am starting to enjoy riding. Was getting near the 16 and a half stone which is not good....

Nobody warned me about the pain in the rear after the first 10 miler but seem to have built up the cheeks now. Does anyone use the jell shorts? And not sure about the handlebars on the new bike.... Advice is very welcome.

Kind regards
Steven

:welcome:
Padded indeed help if riding long distances at speed.
For anything under 20 miles, your bum should get used to the saddle in time.
Maybe try a different saddle? Some saddles are just not comfy no matter how much padding you wear.
Good luck!

Thank you all...

The handlebars don't feel comfortable, I did a 15 miler around Northampton and felt like i was leaning over too much. I haven't ride in a long while so might be me...

You'll soon get into it! Also from Numpton so sure I'll see you around and about :-) Padded shorts are a must for me but it still takes a few weeks to get the rear end into condition.

hey! welcome, I have padded shorts and leggings but I find its a saddle that'll hurt, how high have you got your seat?? if the bars feel low they might well be. go to your lbs and ask about setting your bike up for you, p.s my missus lives in Northampton so you might just see me making my way over from Bedford
