with all the conjecture surrounding the main stadium, it is good the the velodrome is complete and will stay as a lasting legacy to the people of London and the sport of cycling.

It's a really beautiful building. But given the natural curvaceousness of a cycling track, you would imagine that a velodrome would be a difficult thing for an architect to **** up... (although I am sure there are numerous examples).

If there is ever a chance, I wouldn't mind a go at cycling round the velodrome, I have never had a go at a track, but I would relish the chance.

If you view it from the correct position, Lloyds looms large in the background

unless i miss the sarcasm then the only thiong looming behind it looking towards lloyds is the Media Hubm, a building designed by the work experience kid in the architects office at 16.50 on his last friday.

have some good puics of it rising out of the park

I was in Stratford a couple of weeks ago and I thought I'd have a look at the velodrome while I was there - but I kept on cycling into worksites and the area's surrounded by some pretty unfriendly roads for cycling and never managed to get a look at it. Is there anybody with local knowledge who can recommend a good vantage point?
