I have a garmin forerunner 50 with the cycle computer attachment but fine the training software a bit lacking. EG I cant split up sections of data and find averages from that.

Anyone got ideas of better software to use that could help?

if you enter the data into excel, then get it to work them out. Can you export from the device to a csv file?

no it only exports as TCX file which excel reads as a XML table.

I could probably make a macro which refomats it to be read as a CSV :S

example formatting of two track points but still not sure what speed its reading. I think the actual value is around 18mph

<Trackpoint>

<Value>183</Value>

<Cadence>121</Cadence>

Try sporttracks from Zone Five software. I'm not sure if it does exactly what you want to do but I know it manages everything I want to do. very cheap as well, free.
