I like my wildfire, though there is a bit of a bug when trying to get Angry Birds to work.

Same on mine The VC, though a trawl through google shows it's a common problem with the Wildfire and they're should be an updated version soon we can play

Potsy, do you know the solution, you switch it off with the button on the top, then back on again and it loads the screen properly.

I have a Desire, and my sister has a Wildfire. I have also seen the Desire HD.

Desire > Wildfire > Desire HD


Wildfire is nice, a bit underpowered, but the pixel density is all wrong and teh quality is *shoot* compared to the Desire.

Desire HD is too big and also suffers from a funny pixel density (same resolution).

Camera sucks on the Wildfire, also does on the Desire but Wildfire is much worse.




Don't be a cheap arse and get a Desire, not HD, regular Desire - you don't see them around much on contracts now, consider buying sim free and getting a good sim-only deal.

Mrs AF and I have the Desire.

We have both had the same problem, when switching it on it just freezes on the welcome screen (both o2) and will not go any further. Cant even switch it off, have to remove the battery.
Mrs AF has had hers fixed and all seems ok at the moment. Mine however, was fixed but suffered the same problem on its return so its back in for repair.

Anyone else had the same problem?

If I had too many problems with the network firmware, or it was that far behind... I would root it.

Are other o2 users having these problems? If they are, root it and enjoy life.

Gaining root access (Administrative rights) to the phone, and then installing an alternative mod of android ie. CyanogenMod and VillainROM. These differ from o2 android just like it differs from tmobile android. you don't get any apps removed, options disabled - and you generally get greater access to control of the phone (allowing applications that wouldn't run on non rooted phones).

HTC Sense though, the interface you see (granted its just a few widgets) you will lose, but on the Wildfire I wouldn't want to be running it anyway.

Rough comparison...

You buy a Dell, it comes with XP installed with 101 crappy apps and trialware (and with phones, some options disabled).

Rooting = You reinstall a retail version of XP on it instead.

Or You could get the phone from carphone warehouse. Their handsets are generic so no bug filled problematic operator software installed, they are as you would buy them sim-free. And no, I dont work for them :rolleyes:
