Hub drive v Mid drive?

I have a Bosch gen 4 mid drive EMTB and a Mahle EX35 hub drive road bike
both are the best in their field, ie mid drive, high torque, big battery is well suited to emtb. hub drive low torque lightweight battery is perfect for a lightweight road bike that more often goes above the assistance cut off.
I wouldn't want a hub drive on an EMTB, my EX35 has a very long lag sometimes, that would just be catastrophic on a steep technical climb on a mountain bike. but having said that, it wouldn't make it up the steep technical climb with half the torque in the first place
likewise, I wouldn't want the 85nm of torque on my road bike, it'd flatten the battery in no time, you could say just add a bigger battery, but that adds more weight

also it seems to me the American in the video hasn't heard of an EX35 system. it's got none of the downsides of a hub drive that he talks about🤷‍♂️
