Hi All,

Just thought id share my days events with you.

Cycled to work and thought the rear wheel was a bit off so checked once there and thought it could be the rear hub again !!.

Had a morning full of meetings left work about 2:00 and cycled the 8 miles to the nearest decent lbs in wanstead. Had a nice lunch whilst they kindly gave it a hub service and replaced a lock nut... thread had gone so he said !.

This is the good bit... on my way back to work for another meeting get half way down the hell hole that is high street north in Manor Park, east ham and some twat in a banged up merc decides to just pull out straight in front of me whilst eating an apple and talking to his mate in the passenger seat.

I slammed on the brakes back wheel skidded along (bit worrying as it was dry and should not have done this) turning sideways I could not avoid him, managed to unclip on one side and basically landed on the bonnet of the car, bike on floor.

The knob head got out the car still eating the apple and said something, in some language other than english. I looked at him decided I didn't want to get arrested for knocking him out picked up my bike and walked home. I am fine and the bike is ok but what can you do !?.

Another colleague cycling down the same road last week, when someone opened a car door straight on top of him, was really hurt ambulance called and is still off work.

East London is a death wish on a bike most have not got a license not got insurance and to be frank probably should not even be in this country (by immigration status that is)

Were you on the Romford Road as well?I think the Romford Road is easliy worse than the Mile End Road.

I don't mind East London for cycling probably because I know it a bit.Isn't South London worse?

Vauxhall Cross looks like a lot of fun.

Hi hackbike

I find the Romford road ok as its wide with a big bus lane in parts.

High street north is really narrow and very busy, also the road surface itself is full of holes and bumps.

Im not using it anymore ill shoot down the back roads if need be

Thanks guys

Hello there bad boy.I used to cycle the Romford Road in the early and late 1980's and I dont think it has improved and I doubt the back streets are much better.
