Last night I saw Man - a band that could fill Newcastle City Hall in their heyday. At the New Roscoe in Leeds, I reckon there were about forty people in the audience. They music is as good now as it was when I first saw them in 1976 in Newcastle - a gig indelibly marked in my psyche by the announcement of the death of Paul Kossoff during the set.

Saxon were/are ace!
The lead singer was interviewed on Planet Rock (DAB) the other afternoon when I was painting the bathroom.
747 Strangers in the night-excellence, probably my fave HM track.

Again, 1 min 15 in...

 Quite like Judas Priest too...:blush:

On a positive note, always thought Dr Feelgood underated and The Tubes should have been a bigger band worldwide if there was any justice

Didn't know Man are still going. Would have happily come over to Leeds to see them.

Love the way you put huge in inverted commas!

Emerson Lake & Palmer were semi-revered when I was a yoof, but I rather doubt there's anyone singinalongwith ELP as I tippy-tap...

the biggest band to disappear without trace was Blind Faith.

It was a stunningly simple enterprise. Get four musicians at the height of their powers and tour the U.S. charging a week's wages for tickets in vast halls. There were however two small flaws in this genius plan.

1. They only had six songs. Granted the ability of all four to go on a bit ('do what you like' could easily be stretched to 45 minutes) it still relied on the indulgence of an audience that had paid dearly
2. The band's drug consumption rivalled that of Switzerland.

So, one curate's egg of an album (with a cover that some might think a little tasteless) and hey-ho in to comfortable, not to say addled, retirement

Ents24.com is my friend.

I tag my favorite performers and I get updates on tours and any gigs subsequently added to the tours.

It's also worth scanning known local venues like

The New Roscoe, The Cockpit, The Brudenell Social Club and Rios in Leeds for blasts from the past not to mention The Duchess in York where I'll be seein The Zombies the week after next.
