what a knob- good for you COG - do you know if there are cameras on those traffic lights?

I've only ever been racially abused once and that was when I was cycling in Gran Canaria.

I got called an English Bastard but for some reason I expected trouble from the three blokes anyway. At a guess they were Spanish.

What a sad excuse for a human being that co*k is,well done on standing your groung cog,he just might think twice before doing it again now.
Let's hope the police take it seriously and give him a good bollocking, just don't need that kind of hassle on the way home do you.

Cheers Maz/Potsy etc. Important to emphasise though that (for me in any case), overt racist abuse has not been an issue. And I've lived in London since 1990.

You're very lucky User - wish I had the same to say..too many blood boiling incidents to name both here in London and in Brum.

I hope the police take it on board - sounds like a right twat but the Met can be lax with many things

Im tempted now to take a pic of the registrations if I get any funny business....When that car swerved into me last week that was what I was going to do but conveniently they disappeared round the corner and the chance was gone.

it varies from low level stupidity to outright offensiveness. Depends on the situation- not always bike related.

For example once I stopped, turned round and said to the kid who was being an peanut 'what did you say?' Then we had a chat about what crap that came out of his mouth ie 'Chink go back to China' for no reason at all and I told him if it was the other way around and I had called him something offensive related to his skin colour (he was a black kid- the irony was not lost on me) he'd kick off- he ended up apologising, esp when I said to him I was born in this country- so many angry people just reacting to their shoot in their lives.

Of course not everything goes this way-sometimes it gets tiring coming across it- esp the ill thought out pick up lines - you get all sorts!

EDIT: it is not always a war of words - learnt some hard lessons as a kid!

Yes. They saw you as an easy target. Female and asian, on a pushbike. Therefore submissive.

suckers!! ahahahahahah!!

It's that false pride, having something to prove, stupid insecurity that can be seen from a mile off..kinda sad really.

It applies to everything not just racist comments.

PS back to topic - i reckon the license is personalised- easy to find the cretin

It makes you wonder what some people have got going on in their lives to behave like that.
Well done CoG on maintaining your dignity in the face of provocation and loutish behaviour.

"You jumped the fuc*ing red lights you c*nt."

"You're in the ASL!" I shouted back.
Well done for not simply bowing down to this imbecile... however, I would have thought he's too stupid to know what an ASL is... maybe shouting "And you're in the little green bit with a bike bike painted on it... what's your point?" might have had more chance of penetrating the thick mist inside his head.

Some folk are just damn abusive. We were on the way to school, one evening (parents night) with the kids. Pulled up at the junction as we get off our estate. The junction was re-designed a year ago, with the lights being set further back, and a new ASL - this means that if the first car is stopped legally it blocks the left turn lane (this was deliberate as we had to petition to keep the left turn)..

Ar$e is van pulls up behind and just keeps honking and getting very angry - my wife was driving...this carries on, engine revving trying to intimidate her. I wind the passenger window down, haul myself out and look right back at him....'it's illegal to pull into there'.... the guy started boiling over.... lights changed.... all for the sake of 10 seconds......

Some folk, when 'questioned' will come back with all sorts of abuse. I've been called the usual 'banker' and 'hunt' just because I said to someone watch where you are going..... just ignorant as they can't use language properly, and see it as losing FACE - some really sad angry people out there.

Keep us posted.

It seem's that the whole country has turned into a boiling pot ready to explode. For some reason there is a simmering undercurrent of anger with people looking for confrontation. Whether it is car drivers, peds, cyclists, whoever & wherever. Where is the live and let live attitude gone?
