Hubby :smooch::wub: has had an inheritance and says the he will buy me a carbon fibre road bike :smooch::wub:. I have a budget of £1000 +/- a bit depending on the bike.
I am currently riding my gorgeous Defy 2 (2011) with a couple of wee upgrades that have taken place over the last couple of years. Thinking of a Defy Composite but open to suggestion. Obviously I am not excited or anything :hyper:.
I am 5'8" (maybe a tiny touch less nowadays) and a bit too fat for my liking. What do you think chaps & chapesses.

Wow! What a lovely husband you have! Does he want to marry me too?

Hold on, I'll ask his thoughts on polygamy.

Just asked. He spat coffee at the dog and shuddered at thought thought of 2 MILs, having to buy 2 bikes, an extra iPod and having less room in the bed.
Guess that would be a 'no' then. Sorry. I could do with some help with the housework and someone to watch decent films with too. Such is life.

If you like the Defy you will love the TCR
I was thinking TCR but was also thinking that the geometry might be a bit 'racey' for an old fat bird such as myself.

There isn't a lot in the riding position between the TCR and the Defy . I have both in front of me right now and the reach on the TCR is actually a few mm more than the Defy . ( I thought it was supposed to be the other way around )
I think the sales terms for bikes are just that , it depends how you set it up and ride it .

Test rode a Defy 3 Composite today, last years model. I wanted to try a Defy 2 composite but it was still daylight and there is no way I would be seen on such a miserable coloured bike. The Defy 2 Composite is off the list as its just such a horrid, boring grey and black. Bleugh yukkidy yuk yuk.
The Defy 3 was OK I guess but I didn't love it. When I test rode my Defy 2 back in 2011 I loved it to bits immediately. OH wouldn't let me keep it in the bedroom . The Defy 3 I rode today I would be happy to hang in the hall, I wouldn't be fussed about keeping it in the bedroom.

I had a look at a Merida today. This one but in red. Going to have a test ride on Thursday morning. The chap that runs the shop was at my old school, I was in the same year as his older brother. Can't remember his name but we called him Piglet. I am sure he won't do me a good price if I continue to call him Piglet though so I'd best remember his name pronto.

Seriously considering a scoot up to Planet X on Friday for a look see. Might even have a go on Ken's Boardman too, if he puts a shorter stem on and puts the seat down a bit. Tomorrow we are going to check out Cycles UK in Norwich and Pedal Revolution in the morning. There is a Bianchi dealer in Diss that we may well go and visit too. I've always fancied a Bianchi.
