Hybrid bike for £300 please help

Hi all, I am new to these forums lol an to cycling.
I'm after a bike mainly to commute to work on the road, I'm thinking of a hybrid,would anyone be able to offer advice on the best one for £300. Heads battered looking at loads. I'd prefer to be new. Thanks

Carrera Subway, bit of a lump, but solid and the disc brakes will be beneficial if commuting in all weathers

If you are looking to leave it anywhere, get a proper lock or two - budget £60-100 for these

British Cycling discount at Halfords on that bike which also will give you 3rd party insurance if you dont have any as yet.
