Hi,

I am looking for a cheapish Hybrid around the £250 mark. I've had a look at the Dawes 201, but was wondering how people felt this compared to the Ridgeback Motion? Both are roughly the same price. I am very new to the world of bikes, and the Ridgeback seems like the slightly better bike on paper, but would welcome other people's thoughts.

Most of the cycling I will be doing will be along river towpaths, with a bit of road based commuting.

Cheers

The Dawes has got grip shift whereas the Ridgeback has EZ fire based on that I'd favour the Ridgeback. I had a bike with grip shifters before and it wasn't very comfortable on the hands. My current hybrid is a Ridgeback velocity, desite its weight it has been reliable, that would also sway me. I've never had a dawes though but I know what I'm getting with RB. Having said that I'd recoommend you test ride them both and see's what feels right to you.
