50 miles so far on my new bike and the hydraulic disc brakes came in handy:
Emergency stop video
I locked the back wheel, because I'm not used to having a rear brake that good, but I find the control and effectiveness of these brakes is even beyond what I expected.

What? You're saying it nearly dumped you? Well just glad you're safe. (really)

Ps; I understand that Halfords are shortly to introduce 'The cyclist's 'Safety Back Mattress' too. Shortly to be rubber-stamped through Parliament.

How on earth did those cyclists of old ever manage to survive going round the world on their three speeds and such like without these modern 'aids' to cycling safety' eh?

That is appalling driving. Daylight, good visibility, plenty of time to see the oncoming cyclist after the turning car had cleared, yet he still crossed in front of you. I doubt he'd have tried something so stupid if you'd been driving a car.
