Got up nice an early this morning to get ready, get bike loaded and set off on a 40 minute drive for my first audax event of the year. Turned up with a bit of time to spare, so hung around... and around... and around. Bit surprised no one else was around. Eventually I checked the route sheet and realised it wasn't on until tomorrow.

Think I win the arse of the week award. Anyone else want to compete for this week's award? You are only allowed to nominate yourself.

I once rushed out of the house convinced I was late to meet someone in town on a saturday, I thought it was a bit quiet, then I realized it was 6:30 in the morning not lunchtime

I can empathise with that. Booked a day off work to cycle to the Tour of Britain stage nearest me. Elongated my commuting route to put some miles in in preparation for cycling there.

Sitting in work the day before, I logged in to the website to see the progress of the Tour coming down to my stage tomorrow and with horror realised they were passing me today and I booked the wrong day off.

Edit: I was so disgusted with myself, that when I got home, I flung the bike in the corner and didn't use it for two weeks.

Hopefully martint235 will put himself forward in the misreading roadsigns category - I missed the 10 minute deadline to take the p*ss but this could provide a further opportunity.

My first job after leaving school was a 7am start at the bosses house which was 5 minute walk away.
He wasn't pleased one day when I turned up and knocked on his door at 3am in the morning.

ha ha, did the same a few year back. I set of from Manchester at 5 o clock in the morning for a 8 am start in Chesterfield for a 200km audax. I was cycling all round this little village for an hour till I realised I had the wrong day

Met this really nice guy on a bike who took me on a tour and shown me the legendary Ellis Briggs bike shop and we looked at some of his hand built frames. The guy who I was with also had a Ellis Brigg frame. Wanted one ever since. He Drafted me half way back to Sheffield and we said are farewells

I climbed over the pennines back to Manchester. Top day out with no points

*cough* Actually I once drove to The Borderline Club in London so see a singer and it was only after the second (shite) band started I realised I was a day early. Still, only a 120 mile round trip for freak all!

Been their done that x 2

Five or six years ago I persuaded a pal to join me on the Birdwell Wheelers' Audax and wee dutifully arrived to find the gates to the community centre that was going to be the control locked and things were very quiet. Thinking that we were perhaps, an hour early, I dug out the route sheet and found that we were a week early. My mate was not amused.

We did the ride anyway and he bonked out and I had to nurse him back.

It was not a happy day.

Did the same for Queens Of The Stone Age at the forum.
Saw them on the sunday but didn't realise my ticket was for the monday.
Only noticed when I took the ticket out of my wallet couple days after to put in the cd tray (I'm sad like that)

I booked a day off work and drove to Loughborough Uni for a conference. There were signs up everywhere for it, but no sign of any conference.... i got madder and madder and after about half an hour a kind lady in an office let me check my emails.
The conference had been the day before. :shy:
Boy, did i feel stupid......
