Well after deciding last night that the paintbrushes could wait until the morning to be put away, it seems I left the shed door WIDE OPEN all night. Both the outer door and the inner security gate.:thumbsdown:

I thank the little baby Jesus and all his minions that the bikes were still in there this morning when Wife noticed. :heat:

You may mock.

I walked back to my bike fastened up outside Homebase one day and couldn't find my keys. The bike lock key is on the same keyring with my house keys. Moment of panic!

Then I found the keys still in the D lock. What an idiot!!

I'm not sure insurance would cover it with the door left open, although they are locked to a ground anchor.

If I had to guess I would say I see a set of keys left either in a door or car lock at least once a fortnight. Amazing how careless people are

Must admit I've locked the d-lock to the sheffield stand without putting it through the bike. Fortunately it is such an excellent D-lock my bike was still there when I returned. I was so impressed I sent them an email to let them know how good their product was.

It's always worth checking that the Sheffield stand is properly secured into the ground. That caught my mate out when we were kids...

Thieves don t normally operate in wind/rain ! your lucky thought !

cleaned one of my bikes once and left it out side to dry and went to bed
Woke up and opened the curtains and noticed my bike lent against the window ! I was lucky

I once had a Fiat 126 stolen. The local constabulary correctly predicted where I'd find it and when I reached it, it had two pints of milk and half a dozen eggs in the passenger footwell instantly doubling the value of the car.

Year ago when working on sites and short of work took the trip to London on the motorbike (GPZ750 turbo) and left it on a side street along with side several other bikes.
Took the tube to all the sites i knew about, and got back a good three hours later.

As i came out of the tube station i was rooting through all my pockets looking for the keys and alas nothing , ive lost my keys i thought , how the hell am i going to get home.

As i got to the bike hoping i might have dropped them at the side as i was leaving it, there they were in the ignition with three of four other keys and a big key ring all in clear view for a good three hours or so.

All i can think of was it was so blatantly obvious would be thieves might have thought it was a set up and stayed well clear of it.
