to purchasing a Woodrup Chimera belt drive touring bike.
This afternoon I spent an enjoyable and educational couple of hours with Kevin Sayles, the frame builder for Woodrup Cycles in Leeds. I was taken through all of the options for a bespoke frame and saw some of the tricks of the trade. Some fork blade blanks for instance are straight conical tubes and have to be curved using wooden formers or a special jig.Some of the hand cut lugs being prepared for some pending builds were awesome.
Kevin is, as expected, a keen cyclist and enjoys climbs. He spend a fortnight touring doing three major cols per day. Not my idea of fun.
I've paid my deposit and sometime in the future I'll pay the balance and collect what might be the last bike that I purchase.
