On Saturday I was waiting in the queue for the lights to change on the corner of Vallance Road and Whitechapel Road (perhaps a bit to far to the left). There was a car at the kerb which was just getting ready to pull out and a Ford Galaxy behind me. The Ford kept revving up and inching forward. It was obvious that he did not want to let the car out. When the lights changed (we were far enough back that it was obvious we would not get through) he pulled along side me and clipped my handlebars with his mirror. I called him all sorts of names and his reaction was "I gave you enough room". I was just going to post the clip on Youtube and forget it. When I looked through it, he clearly pulled back in on me although I was still alongside. He gained nothing, he had to wait at the lights and I got passed him there.
I have printed off 4 photos from the clip and will write all this down. Is there anything else I should do before I pay Bishopsgate cop shop a visit. What should I say when I get there ?
"I wish to report a piece of dangerous driving" - that seems a bit OTT as we were doing less than 5mph
"I wish to report a road traffic accident" - well he did hit me, but still OTT

I won't post the clip on the web yet

Who cares, put it down to experience. The law won't do anything anyway.

That's a very defeatist attitude. The police have no chance of doing anything about it if you don't tell them.

This attitude of "ahh it's only a wee crime the cops won't do anything" is never going to help.

Sounds like s3 Road Traffic Act, Careless Driving. If damage was caused to you, your bike or the car then it would be a RTC.

Please report it, you might get a cycle friendly cop, like me!

I’d make sure you show them evidence of the damage that was caused to your handlebars/bar ends/headset other wise you’ll definitely get a polite response – but that’s all.
If it goes any further and the driver tries the “only doing 5mph” argument, tell him you’ll drop all charges if you could run a car into in to him at that speed….

i found the police only helpful if you dead. lol, sounds funny, but when the guy pulled what looked like ea knife on me they could do nothing as no crime was committed. next time, try and end up under his wheels. (joke)

Post it on youtube and I'll give you my opinion. But I'm guessing that it's too trivial to bother with.
Only thing that might come of it is if you file a complaint against the driver of that vehicle and later on it's involved in a more serious accident the police will have your complaint on record.

I'm afraid he'd have probably lost his wong mirror if that was me and he'd tried to tell me he'd left enough room.

At the very least I'd have moved directly in front of him and made an effort to let other vehicles out of side roads in front of us both...

Oooh, I am evil. Col will be along shortly to tell me off for winding motorists up unnecessarily soon...

If that was him leaving you 'enough' room, I'm probably with sharky in that I'd leave 'enough' room to flick his wingmirror when i next passed him.. He c0cked up but thankfully no damage done to you or your bike.

I fail to see how it would be relevant.
