Finally got to ride the Madone today, only a little 10 mile but it felt good, VERY good, the set up which I had done in Chevin cycles is just perfect, the seat height, position, position of bars and stem length ......it is a custom fit, but the shoes.......oh Shimano get your act together, I was professionally fitted with them, yes I did the marching on the spot.........walking 8ft cleatless staring at the ceiling, the staff pencilling markings onto the tape put onto the shoes and finally the fitting of the cleats........and still my left foot hurts in the same spot when pedalling, now I was beginning to think it was my foot, but after using Diadora and Sidi shoes and never having this problem I think it must be the way shimano shoes are made.........yes the millions of happy customers are wrong and I am right.........joking, but I think I don't suit shimano shoes, so may be on the lookout for some cheap sidis.

Anyway the ride itself was fantastic, a proper winter blast, cold but shining sun and blue sky on some country lanes, couldn't do the speeds I was doing two years ago but that may come back in time, but still happy with a 33 min 10 mile for my first ride in 2 years.........legs were fine till I stopped at home, then turned into jelly but all in all a very enjoyable half hour............I now have 5 days off work so more riding is order of the day, any tips on how to ease back into it like hard day soft day stuff or just go for it till it hurts.

Over to you.

I felt ready today, but didn't want to overdo my first ride, so only went on a 10m round trip, still want to ride it all the time so the enthusiasm is definitely back, possibly need a harder saddle like a Prologo as the soft Trek saddle isn't doing my sit bones any favours, will try a 30 mile ride if the sun is out tomorrow if I feel rubbish then I will bug out at 15m but lets see how I feel in the morning

I have come up with a cunning plan, going to get a shoe liner and cut out the bit where it hurts, see if that takes enough pressure of to make the shoes fully usable
