I did it with a chicken!

For the first time ever I've just managed to ride more than a few inches no-handed, about 15m.
Freewheeling down the close, sat upright (and this is were the chicken comes in, as it was in the rucksack and I had sat up to move the weight about a bit) took the hands off the bars and I didn't wobble or fall over

Can't ever recall carrying a chicken-in-a-rucksack before and certainly never ridden no-handed so I have concluded 1+1=2 and now shall always carry a chicken with me.

a basic question...

why the chicken in the rucksack in the first place?

So many questions...The chicken (2.25Kg on the kitchen scales) was very much dead, being taken home to be eaten over the weekend from the market by my, and given that this is CC, hopefully everyone elses preferred mode of transport - the bicycle.
The rucksack was used as the egg definitely came first today, as I was also delivering some free range eggs I bought on a ride out yesterday to my M-i-L which I had put in the rucksack.

But ladies and gentlemen, you are missing the point.
I rode no-handed!!

<only half listening maiden aunt voice>

What? Oh well done dear.

How are you planning to cook the chicken?

I can't do it (ride no handed). I can ride with the merest touch of one finger, but once the hand comes off, something psychological kicks in. Well done!

Well done. Now try using chickens as gloves, and see if you can ride like that, a chicken on each hand. And another as a helmet.

Since I've met Piemaster, I can visualise that, thanks. I'll be giggling all afternoon.

I can say from experience that having 32 cans of Stella distributed around the bike in four panniers makes riding with no hands a great deal easier. And having already consumed a good deal of Stella makes falling off a less scary prospect anyway.

Seeing as noone has said the obvious....i guess it falls on my conscience

Why did the chicken cross the road? Cos Piemaster murdered it and stuffed it in his rucksack!

What else did you have in the backpack? Paxo is meant to be quite good for no-handedness too.
