I don't like cycle lanes...but if they were like this I would :)

After the red light thingy?

I very much doubt it.....if they did I have a hundred or so youtube videos. They can start investigating every bloody last one of them. A fair number of those are cars overtaking, into on coming traffic, over the solid white lines when I am doing 15mph (at least) along that road.

And I honestly didn't jump that red light. I encountered all of about 5 traffic lights on my ride...which was about 2 hours. No point what so ever.

Just after that point I didn't have my own cycle lane (as I was in front of all the traffic)...I had to go back to sharing it with everyone else

The traffic is doing less than the statutory required speed to be able to do that.

This is rather an amusing comment as traffic routinely overtakes cyclists doing 20 odd on solids, cars are substantially wider and often do it on roads that have poor visibility.

Solid white lines do not mean no overtaking.

From the Highway Code:
108: Double white lines where the line nearest you is solid. This means you MUST NOT cross or straddle it unless it is safe and you need to enter adjoining premises or a side road. You may cross the line if necessary to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10mph or less.

You can overtake when there are solid whites as long as you don't cross the lines to do so.

I think he probably meant crossing over the white line, rather than having plenty of room within the lane. Certainly the rule isn't that clear IMO.
stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10mph or less.
Was I technically passing stationary vehicles? A lot were stopped, so that's fine, but some were slowing driving along. Though my speedo isn't working I doubt any of them would have been doing much more than 10mph, if they even were which I doubt....but then again, how can a stationary vehicle be doing 10mph or less?

Are they two separate points? Such as stationary vehicles...or the other three if they're going slowly? Seems a bit vague and doesn't give motorcyclist/cyclists permission to overtake when sensible, like I was doing.

Ultimately, I couldn't really care. If it wasn't safe I wouldn't have done it.

My post was in response to MarinYork's comment, as he seemed concerned that people pass cyclists on solid whites, something which is expressly allowed in the HC.

You answer your own question. The HC says stationary or slow moving, very few who have a grasp of English would find that unclear, vague or confusing.

That concerns me, as it is the same excuse used by people who make phone calls when driving or who drive when drunk.

interestingly it doesn't say you can't STAY the other side of it if you are already there when it becomes solid, it only says you can't CROSS it.

more seriously though as far as i've always interpretted it you can cross it to overtake something going less than 10mph.

It actually just says stationary....but then also mentions this 10mph thing but it seems to be in regard to cyclists, horses and road maintenance vehicles.

I don't disagree with you, I just think that the wording could be understood both ways. If for instance, someone was moving along slowly, decided to do a u-turn, didn't see me and knocked me off, could they argue that as I was over the solid white line I was in the wrong as I was not overtaking a stationary vehicle, or a cyclist/horse/maintenance doing 10mph or less.

I was probably a bit harsh in my language, my point was more that what I did in the video wasn't silly, careless or dangerous...so any argument about whether I should be over the white line doesn't really bother me.

I was more worried when going around the first bend with broken white lines in case someone came around the corner fast and I couldn't pull in, than when going up the straight, clear road with solid white lines.

Grow up. I posted quite clearly and referred to a statutory speed in my post. This is something that I talk about often and I'm fully aware of what the HC says. Stop trolling. People knew perfectly well what I meant.
