Is the route number and time/ location sufficient or do you need the registration number too? Under stress it could be difficult to pick up as the bus drives off in a plume of diesel smoke!

With cars getting registrations can be more of a problem (I recommend the "chunking" mnemonic) - with buses, less so - they stop every 200m or so (in London at least)...

They asked for route, place and time of incident. They also like it if you can give the bus's reference number, normally two letters and five numbers. If you can give a description of the driver it helps them narrow the field.

Indeed, I'm about to email Kingsmill because one of their lorry drivers regularly uses the same route as me and is lovely, he goes out of his way to be helpful.

That's the spirit! I got a pretty neat response from TFl for congratulating their overall driver awareness and care. If ever need to, I wont hesitate to "cash" in that credibility.

And yet I still feel guilty. Am I a bad person?

No of course not,he's a bully and a coward.

this guy harassed me over a couple of miles in an 18-tonne bendy bus. He tailgated me, cut me up and various other things.

And yet I still feel guilty. Am I a bad person?

NO! And as above.

Plus you are still alive!

I had someone sacked!

I was cut up by a van that then overtook, pulled across in front of me at point blank range onto the kerb to block me, then started threatening.... I just turned round and rode off

Luckily I had a witness and complained to the company who were appalled at his actions and summarily dismissed him.

Do I feel Guilty - not at all - he was driving badly and aggressively - his choice to do so and the Company's choice whether they wish to let him represent their company.

If his job was important to him, he should have carried it out in a responsible manner.

You were right to report bad driving, some drivers just don't seem to understand that have a duty of care to other road users and that we all have the right to use the roads.

why would you feel guilty about it?

it's not like any action will be taken or they will even read what you send

If I see a driver using his mobile, and if they're in a company vehicle with the phone number on the side I make a point of ringing it (if it's safe to pull over and do so). I ask whoever answers what their policy is on staff using their phones at the wheel. Only problem is that It's rare that I can remember the number to ring and the reg plate when they ask for it. Dunno if it does any good, but it makes me feel better.

TFL will read it and they will investigate the complaint (although you may have to chivvy them) - understandably, what action will be taken will also depend on the driver's version of events. In such a situation, a witness statement from a third party could be crucial - don't be afraid to ask for the contact details of someone who might have witnessed the poor driving.
