OK, you can see from my signature I have bought a bike with gears and everything. I've spent a bit of time riding it lately and it's great.
Anyway, yesterday I thought I'd take 'Aryton' out for a ride, just for a change, and for the 1st time since I bought a Garmin. What I discovered was:
1) riding a singlespeed is more fun than a geared bike; and more surprisingly,
2) riding a singlespeed is no slower than riding a geared bike.
My average speed of 16.something mph over the 35 miles was virtually the same as the same route on my Synapse, and my maximum recorded of 31.8 was identical!
Just as I always suspected- gears make you lazy...
