.... It was more of a nightmare really and even though soon after I awoke I realised it wasn't real it still left me feeling anxious for the first 10-15 minutes of the day!

The main points were that I found the padlock busted off my shed and my hybrid and MTB leaning against the outside of the shed with my prized roadbike missing from within. It was so real, in the dream I even ran to my computer so I could post on cyclechat for everyone to look out for my bike. I felt so angry and sick.
As I woke up I still felt the emotions of the dream and it took a few moments for me to come round and piece together the inconsistences. I still didn't feel great until I had been downstairs and checked on my bikes (which live in the house at the moment:whistle:). Not the best way to start the day.
I don't know if the dream was triggered by anything as I am not particularly worried about the risk or likelihood of crime but I did have a bit of a funny idea on the way home from work on Friday. I rode past a cyclist who was stopped at the roadside making a phonecall. He seemed to watch me as I went past then a few miles later the same thing happened but with a different cyclist. I remember thinking it was like I was being followed but obviously criminals wouldn't go to that much trouble to try and steal a dirty, well used hybrid of medium value?
Anyway, anybody who analyzes these sort of thing will probably say I am insecure, or missing my mother, or was bullied as a child. I moved my bikes around a bit today and cleared them some more space. They are all tucked up safely for the night. I just thought I would share my funny cyclechat related dream with you all

I sometimes dream that i'm back working in a place that i hated....when i wake up it all seemed so real...kinda freaks me out a bit

I usually dream about riding as opposed to the bikes themselves, but they are on the 'lock up the house at night' checklist Also, the bit about any drugs being taken. I was reduced to a mewling jibbering wreck not 6 months ago, by, of all things, antibiotics. I was literally on my hands and knees of my doctors surgery wailing like a banshee because I had caught a whiff of my wifes perfume !!!!! Completley inexplicable behaviour caused by a cocktail of powerful antibiotics. Go figure that one out ! I just woke up the next day hoping it had been a dream, but sadly not. Your dream may well be a subconcious worry about losing something dear to you, not necessarily y'bike.

I never worry about the security of my two ratty ,disreputable looking bikes out in the shed because it's more likely they'd be left alone and the shed would get stolen.

I think we've all had them.... a few years ago, i dreamt that i'd woken up, went to the hallway to find my bike missing, went back to bed for a sulk, then really woke up, convinced my bike had gone... I must have spent a good twenty minutes dreading seeing the empty hallway!!!

The worst one though, was the time I woke up, picked up hacksaw blade which happened to next to my bed, removed the nobbly bits from my ankles, thought, 'oh my god what have i done?!', put my socks on to hold the bloody flaps of skin in place... then properly woke up, too scared to look

I had a dream that. I was being called in by my old employer to. X-Ray some patients

Despite explaining that I hadn't worked for them fit some 15 years, and since specialising that I hadn't taken an X-Ray for the same period of time they insisted

When were on call, our bed was next to casualty and you knew when a blue light came in you were likely to be called out...... On this particular night there was an ambulance across the road called by a neighbour

The dream was a response to the blue lights shining in the window

Urgh. Had the cleared out bike store dream again last night which is a bit weird as it is about a year since I started this thread and I am pretty sure I haven't had the dream in the meantime.
It was slightly different this time, and worryingly, a little more realistic as it actually featured the room where I store my bikes. I returned home to find the door to the bike store wide open and the room empty. No sign of forced entry so I feared I must have left the door unlocked. I ended up chasing around an urban industrial landscape of canals and abandoned mills looking for my bikes and kept finding signs that they had been there but I was just too late to catch them  It was 'orrible

It's strange that this has happened again almost exactly a year after the last occurrence, maybe it's something to do with the longer, lighter days and the increase in thoughts of cycling through the summer months ahead (not that I stop cycling in the winter)?

When I was a nipper I cycled everywhere on my trusty Raleigh with rod brakes and steel mudguards. One day I realised I hadn't seen it for a couple of days so I searched all the usual places but the idea of theft in our little Chiltern village was so remote that I was just baffled as to where it could be - until my Dad came home and asked me: "What's your bike doing down at the garage?" I had cycled down a couple of days before to buy something then walked home leaving it propped outside the little shop where it remained. The garage owner, Mr Parslow, came out and told me: "I though it was your bike.... checked it over but couldn't find anything wrong with it!"

Out on the bike, I was waiting to turn right and this coach comes hurtling round the corner straight off the road and demolishes a complete row of houses. When the emergency services arrive they start putting the roofs back on the houses without bothering to look for survivors. Last week it was. My trip into town does involve going past a rather busy building site but it's not that scary!

Seems this thread has moved onto recurring dreams (general), not just recurring dreams (bike related) so here's mine. I seem to get it every few months:

I am always either at an airport about to fly somewhere, or I am travelling to a station to take a train somewhere. Everything is under control, then things start to go wrong. If I am getting the train, maybe I get off the connecting train at the wrong stop. Or if I am walking to the station I get distracted by something. If it's the airport, it seems to be delays through security, or I go to the wrong terminal.

It always ends up with me panicking and running for the train or the plane on the last minute despite having given myself plenty of time initially. But I never know if I make it or not, I always wake up.

My wife thinks I'm a weirdo

Back to the OP's nightmare, I did actually leave my garage door wide open all night; 2 road bikes, Charge cruiser, 2 Islabikes and a Puky all for grabs + assorted mowing/garden stuff. No takers though, one of the benefits of a posh middle-class bubble I guess. All locked up now.
