I only buy old cars, by old i mean say 10 years or so, always have. Trained as a mechanic after leaving school so can do 90% of jobs myself, so cant say cars cost me a lot of money, i drive an e39 bmw, its crazy the value for money you can get from an older car these days.

Got the car back last night, new CV joint. All ok.
Changed the rear anti roll bar links today, only been on a month, but they have just started to rattle. Fitted by the local garage, but I supplied the parts. Good thing is the original links were impossible to remove due to time on the car, but these came of quick, and new ones on.
Sending the month old links back. New CV was £167 with discount, but included tracking.
Took advantage of the weather today, so whilst the wheels were off painted any suspension parts that were showing cosmetic corrosion, repainted the callipers nice and shiny silver, and cleaned the alloys on the inside surface. The car is 10 years old now.
