I started to fit some low rider pannier racks to the front forks this morning and proceedings were brought to a halt by the threads on the braze ons being clogged with paint. Several fruitless attempts to get the screws' threads to engage with the braze ons led to me wanting to kill the stove enamellers responsible for the lack of progress.
What wrong with blocking off the holes? It takes seconds per braze on - I know I used to have to do it when I worked at a plastic coating factory.
Anyway I created a thread chaser by filing an allen screw into a taper at its end and an axial groove to clear the paint scrapings.
Threads are now cleared and my blood pressure is back to normal.
