I used to live in a flat in a converted Georgian terrace in Camberwell, south London.

The guy in the flat below me got a job in Hong Kong and let his flat to a lad who was all but deaf.

Cue lots of very loud music - it had to be for him to hear it.

I wasn't keen on that, but he then started having parties, not so bad, but all the doors were wide open and I formed the impression some people were just wandering in off the street, drawn by the loud music.

Last straw was getting up one day to find piles of vomit and several people sleeping in the communal stairs.

Happily the owner of the flat was from a good family and he had given me a contact number for an equally nice middle class woman who lived opposite.

I wandered across to have a word with her, but she was already on the case having observed the events of the last few weeks.

Words must have been had, because cleaners arrived to do the stairwell, and more importantly, there were no more parties or loud music.

My neighbour complained to me th eother day about hearing the bathroom light pull go at 4 am...apparently thats insentitive of me. The fact that all usic here is via headphones out of courtesy for her, my studio is in a room I'd rather not have it in out of courtesy for her, I struggle to hear my tv at night out of courtesy for her et cetc was a fact I took pleasur ein informing her of. Tonight I'm going to be a real rebel and pull the light chord twice.

Shouldn't you be pulling it twice anyway? I do hope you are not leaving the light on and wasting valuable resources...

I have neighbour roulette every twelve months as i live next door to a student rental. This year's lot aren't too bad, but last year's lot were ravers and didn't seem to care what night of the week they had an all night party :cursing:. The year before that I'd be kept awake with very loud :smooch: noises almost every night, until one night i was kept awake by a very loud, very long break up  ... and the nightly :smooch: noises strangely stopped

4 doors down plays very bassy music which rattles the whole terrace. they get the message at 1am when i hammer on the door.

next door seems to think that playing music so loud that you can't hear your own TV is acceptable whatever time of day. not sure how i am going to deal with him as he just starts shouting all night as well. thankfully it isn't often.

You could show him your Movember photo, it'd stop me shouting.....

We inconsiderately hoovered today at 4pm and her downstairs went to sit in her car. At least with our grotty neighbour, the HA is now on to it. I don't mind being able to hear her loud conversations, I just play music (through headphones) and I can't hear her.
We are still counting the days to going on the exchange list on 13th May.
We were thinking of exchanging out of the county and hoping to move to Devon or Cornwall. Hopefully she shouldn't be able to hear us there.
