OK I CAN NOW REVEAL ALL... I was a Dove Bike. Experience of a lifetime and I was honoured to be one of the 70 doves - new friends for life. Thanks all of you

Very impressive it was too Jay.
Did you get to keep the gear? Bikes and wings etc?

Bikes will presumably be given to cycling charity of some type. They were basic hybrids resprayed in black from a can. So I was not too bothered.

Wings they insist are being re-used, possibly in the closing ceremony but that would seem odd. Leggings, top, shoes (Gola) I left behind. I just kept the white gilet (signed by Steve Redgrave and Bob Haro) and the helmet (signed by Bob Haro) - great souvenirs!

I just saw my contribution to the Olympics on TV on one of the foreign competitors. Well, it was on TV for about 10 minutes, and should be back on there tomorrow

I loved you all!

It was a preview clip of the doves that made me determined to watch the ceremony on tv, so thank you!

Was it hard to coordinate bobbing up and down with pedalling? Seems a bit like patting your head and rubbing your tummy....

Thanks Arch, In fact that release of the clip was not in any way authorised by Danny, as it was meant to be top secret. The movements were easy - the only difficult bit was that once the wings were on you could not get off the bike, and not really even slip forward off the saddle. SInce we were there for almost an hour we had to have our saddles quite low so we could touch the ground in relative comfort, but then pedalling meant we were too low.

I am normally a lively person but am still buzzing on a massive high and cannot see it disappearing soon!

Were there other cyclists? The dove bikes were the only ones I noticed. I thought they were great, too. It must have been some experience to be part of it.

There were originally some other cyclists: peleton, BMX, flatland, trials and fire bikes. The latter were double sized bikes towed by a cyclist and had a gas bottle to provide flames. Extremely impressive when I saw one, but very dangerous, and the bikes kept breaking. All of these other groups were considered "pro" cyclists and were getting paid (some were real pros some were volunteers). Sadly the show was running long and Danny Boyle had to make the tough decision to cut some segments, and he decided that employees should go ahead of volunteers. Very sorry for them, particularly those that were in fact volunteers and had simply been slotted into the pro group.

oh, and I did see two penny farthings in the props area but have not yet spotted them on the video
I spotted two parked on a side road watching the women's road race....
Can't remember where but it was during the part where there were only the three break away left. The forth had just fallen back. Crowds in the town and two pennys next to an orange/red brick corner building.

The 'Doves' were amazing and, like Arch, the thing that made me really want to see the opening ceremony. Well done for being involved and encouraging more people to want to see it.

So tempted to make a set of wings now.

Hi Jay. Sorry I missed this as I've been off the forum for a while. Congratulations - definitely one of the best bits. If you're finished with the wings, can I borrow them to get up Greenhill? ;-)
I missed yesterday due to hols. Can someone PM me what I missed?
You're always on f***** holiday man!
