I have been selected for the Olympics!

OK went to it today. Interesting in that I think they were weeding out rather than selecting the best. People generally seemed to be good bike handlers. 70+% were serious roadie types, most of the rest serious commuters/MTBers. One local on a BSO with a rusty chain. A couple of people not very good on bikes. We had to cycle round to music, moving around in time, doing Red Arrows type formations. Will be fab to get in. Anyone else done it?

Friend had a volunteer interview as a shuttle driver in London. Was told he had the job, but he'd be in Manchester for 2 weeks running the football official around. What a let down.

Id have been cursing if I'd have brought the roadie over the MTB then! Much easier to steer and handle the MTB than my roadie on drops - for me anyway!

i was there too - now checking e-mails every few minutes to find out the result !

i did ask how many they were looking for (out of 130 thtat showed up) but couldn't finf out anything

I was there too! I'm just waiting to hear - they said it'd take around 3 weeks before we hear anything. Was this Audition for the Olympics Ceremony or Paralympics? I was told in an email it was for the Olympics, but when I looked on my Audition number card that we had to attach to ourselves, it said Paralympics next to the 2012.

I'd like to be selected, but if I don't at least I had an exciting day on Saturday and met different people.

I was told Olympics all along, and cannot do the paras. However one email did say paras! Not the best admin in the world

I was looking out for him, but never saw him. Did you actually see him?

yes. As we headed down the right hand straight (from where we came in the studio) he was in the back corner in a blue anorak. Came over and spoke very quietly to Ben a few times. I smiled at him and got a smile back. So that's me selected to light the flame!

we had to ride as a Group of 30 (nos 10 - 40) to show him what that looked like in terms of density - so presumably they are looking for at least that number (and a lost more if you scale up the size of the studio to the stadium!) out of about 130 that auditioned

No news for me. I emailed a couple of days back, but no reply
