Congratulations. It's a big move so there are bound to be a few regrets - like missing your guitar teacher - but it's where you wanted to be so I'm sure all will work out for the best.

Good luck. Use open questions to get the other person talking and buy yourself a little thinking time if you get stuck. Great technique with customers to and they'll be looking for how well you get the customer talking, probably.

Congratulations! Obviously you followed the very first bit of advice you received, from Fossyant: "Just be yourself. Lots of jobs are about personality, once you've got the basic quals to do the job." Sounds like you're moving to a really nice place, well, a whole new phase of your life. Enjoy it! (I'm sure you will.)

I have just been on the government website to look at the financial side of things.
As I wouldn't get help with rent or council tax (the website says that I would earn too much), Hubster would lose the pittance of benefit that he does get - it's not a lot but it gives him some money of his own and I am a smidge over the Working Tax Credits threshold, the site says that I would be, and I quote, "-£115.38 a week better off"
Yup, you read that that was a minus sign before the numbers and then the words 'better off'.

I might want to live in Devon but I would like to be able to eat, actually get to work and maybe even use some electricity.
I'll stay doing a bit more dog walking here I reckon and just ditch the grooming.

They still haven't emailed me with an official job offer anyway. They said they would formally offer me the job, by email, by close of day Thursday - the one just gone.
Hubster is gutted but I am not working my arse off for 40 hours a week to be over £100 worse off while Hubster is swanning about at home. The only way that I could make it work is to get a 2nd job. Maybe a bit of grooming and dog walking. Oh, I do that already so that's a 'no' then.

Sorry Saluki
I'm not altogether sure that I am sorry. Devon is nice and all but it ain't THAT nice. It's not worth the massive drop in income and the associated never ending worry that would go with it. Even Hubster could predict a total meltdown while I panicked on a daily basis trying to make ends meet. Nobody will give him a job with him having renal failure so his getting a job is unlikely.
When he was first diagnosed with renal failure (again) he was looking for work and as soon as he mentioned the dialysis word, he said he could see their faces shut down in a 'no way jose' sort of way. I don't suppose that Devon would be any different for him. Let's face it, who would give a job to someone who either has to leave early 2 or 3 times a week or has to take 2 or 3 mornings or afternoons off per week. If I was a proper organisation, I'd give the job to someone not on dialysis.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Im glad you didn't make a hasty decision Saluki. At least you have had some good practise at being in an interview. Now you know the sort of questions that you will be asked. Its good experience for you. And the consolation is that you got the job, even if you're not going to accept. Don't worry, the right job, at the right time will come along.
