I was riding back from work tonight, had a fair lick going then just after bus stop some lad aged about 20yrs steps out, realises he aint gonna make it across the road, as a car was approaching from behind (I heard this prior to the lad stepping off the pavement), so, as I had no other choice I pulled the brakes and braced the right shoulder for impact with everone in eye distance LOOKING at ME & the lad.

Surprisingly - he stayed upright - I was doing about 20mph...so he was stronger than I expected - at all.

He appologised profusely even though he had just had a whack of fair proportions.

The only thing that WASNT yellow on my body was my leggings (black) & helmet (silver).

I suppose 'we' gave the cardrivers a show on their boring journey home B)

He wasn't looking for me or seen my yellow'ness.

Always unpredictable aren't they peds*?

Lucky Bentmikey isn't here otherwise he'd give you a flea in your shell like.B)

Bad luck, Yenners. Any injuries? I guess you must have wiped off a fair bit of speed if he remained standing...?

I stopped to 0mph.

No injuries, thanks, carried on - but did tell the lad it wasnt the best thing to do - or words to that effect.

Good job no harm done. There's those you can predict and those you just can't.

A true fact, but one of my initial reasons for camming up was down to two incidents I had with pedestrians rather than drivers.

Glad you are OK, don't give a t**s about the ped. I have had a few near misses with pedestrians who just step out without looking when I've been driving too!!!

Immediately I thought there was a wheel situ. but thankfully the 'one' is ok - its gone to bed after I asked if it was ok - it said it was fine and; "give me another ped. for afters" ;)

I see this a lot when I am out on my bike in the cycle lane. Usually it's a group of lads and girls at a bus stop and as I approach one of the lads will step backwards on and off the kerb while chatting to his mates and then at the last moment take a couple of extra steps backwards into my path.

I have learnt to change to primary on the approach and pass wide.
