This may not go down well, but I've just bought an Alien Aurora electric bike. I've cycled to work on my Dawes Tanami for the last 10 months. I'm fitter than ever, and I've lost nearly a stone. By cycling instead of using the motorbike I reckon I've saved over 2 grand.

So why have I bought an ebike?

Well, I have a slightly dodgy knee which plays up every so often. If I ever twist it, or have a really physical day at work, or there's a strong headwind, or even if I just feel a bit off it it can be a struggle doing the commute (a few hills). I'm sure that on those occasions it's better to use an ebike and still get some exercise than to use the motorbike or car. I'm hoping that with the new bike in my arsenal, I can now cycle 100% of the time instead of currently 90%.

Excellent - exactly the sort of reason to have an e-bike. Any exercise is better than none - and it's not just the exercise, it's the fresh air, and the well being you get from exercise. Enjoy it!
