I watched the Tour of Britain last year as it passed nearby.

As @steveindenmark said, I think I saw Cavendish.
I saw him on Monday. Well, strictly speaking, he rode past me but I didn't spot him. Wiggo was the only rider that I recognised 'live'. The rest were identified from my photographs ...

Getting on the central corners of the Tour de Yorkshire circuit in York made it better as we saw the women pass 10 times and the men 3. You get an appreciation of the speed of the riders. Otherwise I think I'd either head for the finish or for a big mountain climb near the end where the riders will be more spread out and going slower.

We had planned to go and watch the Tour go by as it was 2 roads over from us, however when we looked in the diary, we were working until about half 12 and they were in Thetford by then. We were in Dereham. Heigh ho.

I was really disappointed when we watched the tour set off from Carlisle a couple of years ago.
Lots of standing around then a big pack of cyclists doing 10mph went down the road and back again.
Yawn.
You should have been in Binns Cafe(sorry restaurant) when Carlisle hosted the start of the stage a few years back.3 nitwits came in ,sat down ,then each went in turn to the loo to change into full Sky kit.One fool wore his Sidis and his return to the cafe could be followed by the shattering of glass and crockery.According to one of the staff he finally slid off the stairs, landing in "Ladies Bathing Wear"-should have worn a helmet!I had hysterics and was frowned upon by several elderly matrons!Good fun though.
