I learnt that you need to carry 2 inner tubes ...

Last night following my off i was on the way to work when i hit some roadworks where they had dug a sqaure out of the tarmac and not stuck a bollard in it and wham !! 2 instant deflation's .

I carry an inner tube so i did 1 tyre easily enough but ho hum i got the repair kit out for the front.
After i had fixed the tube i stuck it in and then realized i could not get my pump on it, the valve was to short !!Normally i pump tyres up with the track pump at home and i never had a problem before but this tube had a short valve and i could not get a grip !!!

I phone work to say i will be late then phone mrs CK to say i need a pick up .I am only maybe 10-15 mins from home and i tell Mrs CK exactly where i am.After 4 phone calls and 45 minutes i am frozen and the wife finally turns up , says she was looking for me further up the road .......

i am utterly speechless !!!


Arrive at work nearly a hour and a half late and swear from now on i will carry only long valve tubes and carry 2 of them.In 2 and 1/2 years i have never had 2 tubes blow ever , but now i know the fairy loves me and wanst to visit me on every opportunity

Yep, always carry two tubes. Also make sure to match valves with rim depth ... but you know this now. :-)

Or you need Leicestershires finest to find you sat in the road trying to fix your punctures. After explaining they couldn't JUST give me a lift home, I got arrested on suspicion of theft of a pedal cycle. Luckily for me just as we were driving past my front door they worked out it was my bike and de-arrested me!....
Long time ago but never forget that act!

I carry 4, yes 4, in my saddle bag... just incase I need to on the way to work then 2 on the way back!
