I didn't charge my front light ... It died 5 minutes after I set off from my hours this morning at 5am, and was running late so I couldn't turn back :banghead:

Luckily I wear a bright orange jacket when cycling in the dark, and the sun had start to make an appearance, so wasn't pitch black.

Battery is on charge right now :thanks:

Damn, that's not good Feisty.

Do you not have a backup/safety?

I was slacking, it's never happened before; I'm normally really good at charging batteries  .. I should of took the hint when my back light played up and wouldn't turn off and drained all it's battery. (AAA Powered)... Luckily I did have a spare.

On Monday when my days off begin, I'm going to get a couple of little lights that I can put in my bag so I will never forget a spare :hugs:

I admit to having that error myself reasonably frequently! Then I hope that my hope light lasts on flashing long enough, and usually carry a spare with me too, but not such a strong one. (And berate myself for not remembering to charge it). The worst one is the rear light, at least you see the front one go off, but the back one you don't realise unless you check.

I actually got really lucky 2 days ago.

I cycled to the Mothers house 2 days a go, and stayed longer then planned. By the time it was time for off, it was pitch black. I would of been on un-lit, country roads. I only didn't cycle it as I didn't have my jacket. If I did, my light would of died. I would of been well and truly screwed!!! :secret:

Think this is a lesson learnt.

I've two Nima lights, I use them as safety lights, but are fantastic little backups too, very bright.
Otherwise I have a Knog Frog front, which is also pretty bright, both are perfect backups, but I will admit, I need to change my front light, ideally to something rechargeable, as then I won't need to carry spare AA batteries, and can simply charge at work and home.

Stay safe folks

Happened to me once so my commuter now has two front lights just in case

I'm currently shopping for lights now.. Just seen those Knog Frog lights, something like that as an emergency be-seen light to throw in my bag seems ideal.

you can buy front and rear lights for £1 each at poundland, i use the rear lights as proper to be seen lights they are very good on the second quick flashing setting, the front ones are pants but for a quid could save your life and stop a hefty fine the rear ones just slide into the loops on my bergen

Done same @FeistySquirrel only the once, mind  saved by my work's handyman, he gave me some batteries.
Since then, I always carry spare batteries for my main "to see" light.
