If it's any consolation, when I did my collarbone a good few years back, it was fine after three weeks or so. My dislocated shoulder took three months.
Stay happy, eat cake and chocolate. You'll be back on within a month. ;)

Ouch! hope it heals up soon!

I broke mine last year too, it's bloody sore for the first wee while. did you get the same treatment I did? just a sling, and nothing else?

It was great to see that modern medicine has come so far.

Anyway, as The Doc says, it'll heal soon and you'll be back on it in no time.

Good luck, and remember a top tip from me... if you're in need of big pain relief, you can take ibuprofen and paracetamol in tandem as they do not interract.. but you're probably over that bit of the injury already.

Sorry to hear of your accident! A lot of people 'bonk' after 70-odd miles, but you have to go and break your collar bone! Now you're a proper cyclist!

It's a painfull break, but you should be up and riding within 3-4 weeks hopefully!
Getting dressed will be fun; and take time.
Speedy recovery, buggi!

When I broke mine in my teens I knew I'd done it as I could feel the 2 bits of bone rubbing together. When I told the doc in casualty he says "Who's the doctor here, I'll be the judge of that" and then pulled my t-shirt over my head.

Me: "OWWW! You f***ing idiot!!"

Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery Buggi - don't shoulder all the blame for the crash - hold your hands up yes, but...

Also sorry to hear that your bike is being examined for crack - is that why you crashed it?

Enough already!
Well get soon.
hee hee. will i get cancer from snorting carbon fibre?

OMG i can't belive how much this hurts, took over an hour just to wash and put t'shirt and shortson today! list of injuries:

broke collar bone. feck it hurts but lucky has snapped backwards so altho can't lie back and have to sleep sitting up so far only slight bend is obvious, no massive bumps or deformities (altho have been told there is still time when it starts to calcify:angry:!)

bump on head (knocked out at crash til medics arrived. god knows how long that was, i was in the middle of nowhere) and stitch. still getting dizzy but thats nothing unusual

black eye (still there)

gravel burn on lip and chin (opposie side of face ;)) but now mostly cleared up

palm size gravel burns on knees which have now turned to palm size crunchy nut cornflakes making it extremely difficult to bend said knees.

graze on right hip

graze on right elbow (which prob caused collar bone to pop as no graze on shoulder)

various odd bruising.

was wondering how i managed to sustain injuries on all different parts of body and whilst cheering myself up watching cycling crashes on tv (sick i know) saw one guy flip straight over right side of handlebars, not have time to put arms out and land exactly how i must have and then flip and skid on t'other side of body. it all makes sense now.

thanks for all your lovely comments. has cheered me up no end  back to bed now. been signed off work for at least 3 weeks but like a true cyclist have already told my dad to fetch my turbo over (am staying at parents coz can't look after myself )!
