..with those that slated the new U2 album. I've just heard it today and it's outstanding. Finest album they've done since Achtung Baby and I've just got it from ITunes. So there.

As a matter of principle, I disagree.
And yes, I do have a finely honed sense of what is right or wrong in these instances.

I don't like U2. Yesterday I tried to re-adjust my view by listening to all their albums on Spotify (thanks for the Spotify find Alecs!) - I tried, I really did. But it just didn't hit my buttons at all. I found it boring as. I listened to the Pixies instead.

Also, I just cannot take seriously a band that has someone in it called 'The Edge' - I mean, come on!

Johnny Walker played Stand Up Comedy yesterday between Led Zeps Good Times Bad Times and The Who's Baba O'Riley and it just sounded like a 70s sludge unlike Zep and the Who mind you Johnny was in good form following on from the Who with Def Lep's Animal and Boston's More than a Feeling.

Personally I thought War was U2's last great album and it all went downhill from there

Every U2 album sounds good the first time you hear it. That's why they sell so many. By the time you realise you've been had, again, it's too late.
