I name this ship... RRS Boaty McBoatface

I'm reckon all UK registered ships should have a name that is difficult for non-native english speakers (and Americans) to pronounce, because it amuses me.
eg. chinese speakers seem to struggle with the 'i' in 'ship'

Works both ways of course.

I remember a VHF radio conversation between a heavily accented Irish Master and a ships chandler in which the Master was trying to order some 'tin wire'
'I need some tin wire'
'Sorry, we don't have tin wire'
'No, no. TIN wire'
'We don't have any' - now yelling at each other.

'Tango - Hotel - India - November wire'
'Oh. Thin wire'

Reminds me of the various versions of this story (allegedly based in fact)

OT

St Ives Cambridgeshire had an old road leading to a pig farm. When built on it they called the new road "Pig Lane" as that was whatthe locals had called the original

Then they built a Police Station.... The hundred yards where it was built was changed to Broad Lees

It just shows what can happen when idiots are given the vote.
