About 15 minutes probably. Unless I pay him before he finishes then he tends to disappear.

I would imagine that the guy is making about a £10 an hour, pretty rubbish so I would say he is cheap.

I can think of some overheads that would eat into that, let alone no sick pay, no holiday pay.

I would say the prices are geographical.
It's expensive in London. "Up to ten windows for only £35" was on one advert, which possibly explains why we haven't had any window cleaners for the last twenty years. Sliding sash windows are easy to clean from inside the house if you have reasonably long arms.

BTW, one of the adverts said "We only use purified water".

The floor's yours...
No I am trying to get you to back up your post with facts. No worries though as anyone who has been self employed will know there are quite a few overheads in doing so.

Transport.
Insurance
Accountant fee's
Printing
Clothing
Tooling
Consumables

Too mention but a few.

Now if it was more lucrative than being on minimum wage then why are we not inundated with window cleaners.

Pretty sure my window cleaner does it to feed his alcoholism and I'm also sure he's doing it on the side. He's a bit of a local character though.
We have two types of window cleaner around here. The type who seem to enjoy pottering about for crap wages (in their normal clothes, a battered ladder and walking or driving a banger) and those who have the whole W&R system in a van and can blitz a house in 5 minutes for about £20.
Oh our guy is most definately the former
