Wellies used to last years. Now I struggle to find a pair which last through the winter without splitting. I'm off to buy a pair now, and will be grateful if they last to 2019.
Most wellies seem to be made for the wide webbed feet commonly found in rural areas. The wellies I found best suited to slimmer feet are Harry Hall, the Go Outdoors equestrian brand.
Had a pair of Seeland Allround neoprene boots for a while which are pretty warm. I tried some of the Rydale boots on recently and am between an 8 & 9 but they don't come in half sizes. They seemed to be well made.
