Did it do any good, like thumping the telly to make it work again?

Ironically, no, I really DO have a thick head!:laugh:

Anyway, I hope nobody minds the slight tangent, as its a commentary of falling quite a distance and how the mind can wander onto other things even within that period of time! It also shows how, I imagine one's life can flash past one's eyes in an instant.
As it was, I had the headache from hell for about a week afterwards, but I was very lucky to have been able to walk away from it without any real injuries other than cuts and bruises. Also, it was in Germany, which didn't exactly help!

When I fell off a (small) cliff a few years back, I was waiting for my life to flash in front of me as I hurtled towards the ground, but it didn't happen, so I knew I'd be ok (either that or I had nothing worth remembering). Along with this, what was actualy going through my mind were the thoughts that happen in a fraction of a second, the 'Oh my God, I'm falling!!' the 'Oh fcuk, this is higher than I thought, this is serious!.... If I already have brain damage, what is THIS going to do to me?' to the 'Ok, I am going to hit the ground hard, and its going to hurt', the 'I have a camera here, I had better protect it so that I don't damage it's lens, but I wish I'd had enough time to take one last picture!' to the 'You know, if I could fly like a bird... or a mini glider, I would still have time to swoop out of this dive and fly/glide away to safety..... but I've just gone past the point of no return, yes, I'm only human, I'm going to crash, but when I do, I want to stay conscious throughout this if possible, if I know I am then I'll be ok'...... 'Actually, the view from here isn't so bad, and I'll also be seeing bits of this cliff close up that most people will never get to see!! ..... So, where am I going to land here? Can I position my body in time?... yes, a bit'..... 'PREPARE FOR LANDING!!' 'I can see every molecule of dirt and rock in super HD format!'.... 'Oh crap, I AM going to hit that rock after all, AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!! I can see it in great detail, that's quite a nice pattern it has....' THWACK!! THUNDER CLAP!! FLASH!! TWAAANNGGG!! (When the noise of a rock resonates through your skull and you hear it as a frequency for the best part of a second and you see it as a flash to boot! Red with a thin yellow centre if you must know, almost like something out of a cartoon, only without the cartoon effects)........ 'UGGGGGGHHHHH!!'................. 'Ngggggggg!!'......... 'Uggggghhhhhh!!'....... 'That wasn't too bad considering'......... 'I think I can move everything'............... 'But, why can't I see anything? All I can see is white..... Oh God I've been blinded.... I don't remember seeing a sharp rock!........ NOOOOOO!!...... Oh wait, my vision is coming back, it appears to have been several stops over exposed, that's all.... That's strange!'...... 'Oww, that hurt, but not as much as I imagined, and I'm still here... I made it.... I didn't lose consciousness once (as far as I know)... SH*T HAHAHAHAHA I'M OK!!... As the Red Barron once said after being shot in the head, 'It helps to have a thick head'... 'Hahahahaha!! Sh*T Hahahahaha I thought I was going to die there!! Jeezo!'.... 'Hahahahaha!!'.... 'Oh hold on, when did it start raining??'.... 'Oh wait, that's my blood from my head falling past my eyes hahahahaha!'.... 'I hope I don't make too much of a mess, and I hope I don't scare anyone..... I need help!.... I bet this will hurt a lot more later' (and indeed it did!).

I imagine that it all happens in a fraction of a second'

When you say a small cliff, do you mean you had one of those doofus moments where you step off a kerb without realising it is a kerb and do a funny walk for a few steps while trying not to fall over, usually avoiding falling over, but on the odd occasion, actually decking it?

Or where you go to lean against that wall/support which is actually 2ft to your left and you stagger backwards, again trying to avoid falling over and usually managing it, but sometimes not?

Had a similar thing this morning. A white van was speeding towards me, then mounted the kerb before coming to an abrupt stop. The lad walking a few yards ahead of me nearly jumped out of his skin.

The van driver inevitably had a phone clamped to his ear.

No, I was playing silly buggers at the time climbing/scrambling, and it was several meters up. I didn't exactly hang about to find out how high it was (it was in Germany incidentally), but it was considerably more than just a few feet anyway. If I'm being honest, it must have been the equivalent of falling from a point between the second and third floor of a building it was certainly high enough for me to go 'Wow! This is going to be a proper fall!'

Also I landed badly, I know, and could easily have caused a spinal injury of some sort. As it was, I appeared to have been made of rubber (and been very very lucky!).
I am considerably more careful now, but even so, it only takes a second for something like it to happen again.
