I imagine they will remove it then if it's not a point of interest. It's also worth noting that players don't have to be right next to it You get a good sized radius for the area you have to be in to activate.

Thankfully, I live somewhere quite dull, so don't have this issue

Took me ages to work out that you had to spin the disc to top up your Pokeballs! The lack of instruction in the game is kind of annoying.
