I tend not to respond to posts asking for help anymore

I still answer, not all but the ones which take my fancy. What disappoints me sometimes is if you put a lot of effort into answering a post, posting links, doing a bit of research and then you don't even get an acknowledgement or the thread never gets updated, so you don't know if what you've written was useful. It's nice to know either way really, clues you up for the next time a similiar question gets asked. One thing I always try to do is complete a thread where I've asked for advice, even though it might be months later.

That's a good point. I need to make more of an effort to respond when I seek advice.

The new software allows people to "Like" posts - which will hopefully become used as a "thank you" for the technical/help areas of the site to give recognition for good advice and in-depth replies.

I'll try to firm-up the idea with an announcement once we've moved (someone PM to remind me if I forget!).
