I had no idea about what you were talking about...I just went to the site and downloaded. Wikipedia gave me the answer - after 11th September they changed it.

Spotify is a legal music streaming site that has free or subscription services. Initially it was easy to get registered, install the software and then have access to a huge library of music - excellent for someone who travels alot. Due to its popularity, you now have to be invited if you want the free service. The subscription service allows you to have access to all your playlists even when you are not online, but sadly remains beyond my budget.

The service had extensive coverage in the press when it launched - I'd have thought a hip young chap like yourself would have been totally au-fait with it.

I looked it up on wiki, and it still makes no sense to me I cannae even get my laptop to let me onto iTunes...

Exactly, but it's not a good idea not to point that out all over the internet, as soon it will be common knowledge and it will be closed.

What do you need an invite for? To use the free service now? I've had an account before it got really popular - does that mean I have invites..if people want one just PM me (and let me know how i give you one!!)

Click on "Help", select "Your Account" & beneath "Profile" there is an "Invitations" header - although I no longer need one.

Can you get your own music uploaded onto there? I've lost count of the number of times people have asked if my band are on Spotify. I'm just creating an account for us now (cheers Alecsetcetc).
