A disaster for the town I would imagine. I can't think of a surer way to split a probably well functioning community into a spiteful, fueding, broken group of damaged individuals. I would have thought it a much better legacy to provide some needed local facilities and set up generous trusts to improve the education and prospects of anyone that was so inclined.
He was either seriously misguided or really didn't like the people of his home town?

The true bit is "rich man fixes village's roads and tidies up a bit" which is still a nice thing to do although less headline grabbing.

I too refuse to click on the DM link. I did read the Graun article. Assuming it wasn't deliberately deleted, but just caught up in the thread purge, here it is again for them what missed it.

The Daily Heil get a story completely wrong, surely not?

They'll be printing stories about how those dirty foreigners cream £350Million a week from us to fuel their cheese lakes and luxury migrant holiday camps when the money could be spent on our NHS.
Still, nobody would believe stuff like that, so it's most likely harmless.
