That is sad. A highly talented and creative writer, with a fair old work ethic too.

That's a pretty open and frank statement he's made. Chilling in it's matter-of-factness. This did bring a smile though...

Damn, that's terrible news. I've read everything he has ever written, both SF and non-genre, and it has always been worthwhile, even when it wasn't his best. My favourite is probably his most sentimental novel of his own teenage fantasy band-life, Espedair Street, closely followed by The Player of Games, and The Crow Road.

Very sad. I'm not really into SF, and we parted company some time ago, but The Wasp Factory must be one of the greatest debuts of all time.

I have only read two or three of his books. I thought Inversions was pretty good.

This is such sad news. A decent bloke who enriched lives with his writing. My favourite author; I looked forward to the publication of every new book he wrote with the anticipation of a small boy waiting for Christmas.
