LOL, it's days like this when I love riding the recumbent, boring into wind past sweaty red commuters on their uprights. It's the best time to put the hurt on. Not nearly as much fun on fixed!

I've done that as well, couldn't resist an extra packet of cashews and a kit-kat but with the wind behind me I might have to extend the ride home.

I was very naughty and raided the skaggy bits of chips a friend had left  AND a muller rice and not the very low fat variety. I'm still bloody hungry though!

We are a harder bunch us Manchester Upright riders...

The wind wasn't a problem, it's the torrential rain we've had....

Took me ten extra minutes which is a disgrace but they seem to be putting temporary lights up everywhere. Is it getting near christmas?

Also a particularly bad set of lights At Angel Lane Stratford which doesn't detect me.

If you have a basket on the front of your bike you should be able to fit a portion of fish and chips in there. Just go easy on the vinegar 'cos it can drip into your bearings and cause all sorts of trouble.

Its the best commute weatherwise that I've had for a while, the wind was only 13mph this morning and it was dry and bright and just the right temperature for me. According to the forecast I won't be so lucky on the way home, it'll be less windy but heavy rain and looking out the window the forecast could be right.

When I'm peckish after a long ride and on the last leg, I like to put a cone of chips in the rear pocket of a cycle jersey - I then tuck in at traffic lights.

Stop it I'm hungry again now and only a banana in sight.

Couldn't do the chips thing round here, it would be like a scene from The Birds except with bloody seagulls. Only just avoided being s**t on last night at the lights, landed right by my left foot.

My uncle who's a keen cyclist once told me to treat riding in the wind the same as riding up a hill (I think he was on about gearing?) If so it was a bloody big hill this morning and I've never nearly rolled back down a hill!

What if its a hill and a head wind.. it was seriously hard going in some places and then going downhill it was a good 5 mph than normal. I've had 2 weeks of doing long distances for me... so my legs are very achy.
