These IDs are reinventing the wheel. I'm sure anyone with a potentially fatal allergy and a love of higher risk sports has come across SOS pendants before, I've had one for 14 years, you can buy them in jewellers, and I think Argos, for less than those cost.

As for ID, drivers licence is always with me.

I don't bother with it although I do have them in dog-tag style. Waste of money IMO unless you have a rare blood group, have a nasty allergy or are a Christian Scientist who wishes to refuse treatment and die instead.
I also think that stuff about ICE numbers as well as recognising stroke signs, attempting recusitation and so on just contribute to living a life of fear.

There was a national campaign sometime ago that recommended everyone put "ICE" before a contact on your phone. The emergency services know who to contact In Case of Emergency.

I'm pretty sure that this was an email SPAM notice.

As the Snopes story says, the campaign is genuine, the only hoax part is the fake virus emails.

Does anyone carry any ID on them when they are out and about. At present i dont, infact i only carry my moby, a quid and my house keys.

Ice id and Vital ID are UK based versions of Road ID.. I have both Ice and Vital and think they are great in different ways.

If I am out on long rides I also make sure my wife knows the route I plan to ride and my expected time of arrival so that If I don't get back on time she knows where to look.

I carry my bus pass and ETA card at a minimum, although usually I have my wallet with credit and debit cards, driving licence and other documents that ID me too. The Bus pass has my photo on it and the ETA card is for cycle recovery as a recumbent trike isn't exactly bus or taxi friendly.

I was thinking of this on Tuesday after 2 REALLY close calls on my commute home. Printing off and laminating an ICE card as we speak!
