Any one ever experimented with organic lubricants or know of any useable organic oils? I know you can buy organic lubricants from some of the bike shops (at a very high price) but this is not really what I am interested in. I have used cooking oil as fuel for my car, painted motorcycle alloy parts to protect in winter ( it tends to go fairly hard and stay on after a short while) this making it not a lot of use for lubrication in my view, painted my walking boots in the stuff, used the left overs after filtering the recycled chip shop oil for the car to help light my wood burner, used it to paint my fence better than normal oil as it's dog friendly ( I once found my dog eating the used cooking oil I had spilt whilst filling my car what other type of fuel would have done no harm ?) I'm amazed they haven't eaten the fence!

Any ideas.

Never thought of Castrol R infact didn't even know it still existed, I realise the amount you use is not really worth worrying about but just wondered what other organic lubes could be used ?

We reviewed it in Velo Vision, Pete reckoned it worked well - and they'll take back the bottle to reuse it, on a deposit scheme.

The only downside, I'd say, is that their website is naff....

How about good old regular crude oil - it is about as organic as you can get

This is of course, entirely correct. Perhaps the OP could define what is meant by the term 'organic' in this context.

I thought it was fairly obvious he meant vegetable oil as opposed to mineral oil...
