Always puzzles me this, I've been on forums where mods were a pain in the bum I just didn't stick around. I've never been on a forum where conspiracy theories about mods and some secret cabal didn't exist. Were it not for these sorts of threads I would have no idea of moderation on CC or who did it, to me that's a good thing.

Thats mostly all I've ever done as a mod. I offered way back to be an extra pair of eyes looking out for the porn/spam/junk and to delete it when it appears, and I've done that and killed spambots when I've been first on the scene. Its not controversial, its not difficult, and its worth doing.

I've seen the other mods in action, and in comparison with other sites I've moderated on (gosh, thinking about it, that goes back to '95), I'd say that this is the most composed, reasonable, decent set of mods I've encountered. I wouldn't say that everything has always been got 100% right, but its done pretty darned well.

I think all the mods should have a week off. We won't delete spam, we won't sort out squabbles between CC members, we won't ban anyone for being a troll ... nothing. Let's see how long it is before someone needs us.

We all know the theory. The only flaw in that is that you end up with the mods being a clique and all chums with each other and no diversification as we have now. It all works fine until you run into something like peanut or Joe where moderators themselves start misbehaving. Not that I have a problem with the current lot, they are all nice people in their ways and suitable forum institutions.

I've argued tooth and claw with some of the other mods on the open forum. I wouldn't have said I'm in a clique with any of them.

Sometimes the perception that the mods of a forum act far too much in self/collective interest can be true; it is my experience that this is definitely not the case here.

Absolutely. We work as a team, I suppose, but that's a long way from being in a clique.
